How to Make This Mother’s Day Special

How to Make This Mother’s Day Special

Mother’s Day is fast approaching, and although it may look a bit different this year due to shelter-in-place orders, there are still many ways to make this important holiday special. Flowers and cards are the go-to gifts for Mom, but there are many other creative ways to show her how much she means to you. Here are some new ideas.

Plan a Virtual Mother’s Day Brunch

Just because you can’t see Mom in person doesn’t mean you can’t see her face-to-face. Arranging a special Mother’s Day brunch via Zoom video conferencing lets your entire family get together while keeping their distance. Make yourself breakfast, pour a cup of coffee (or a mimosa), and set up your computer right at the table. You can even decorate your space with flowers to set the scene.

Order Mom Her Favorite Meal

While you can’t prepare Mom a home-cooked meal this year, you can make sure she gets her favorite foods. Many restaurants are offering no-contact takeout and delivery. You can place an order and have it sent right to her door—or, if you live nearby, drop it off yourself. Some restaurants are featuring special takeout menus just for Mother’s Day.

Treat Mom to a Spa Day

Moms can all use a little pampering, but right now, most day spas are closed. You can still make sure she gets time to relax and unwind by sending her a gift box with all the necessities: a plush robe, some bubble bath, a scented candle, and maybe a bottle of champagne.

Pay Mom a Visit—at a Distance

If you live nearby, a great way to make Mother’s Day special is to surprise Mom with a no-contact visit. Stand outside her home with hand-painted signs, balloons, and streamers. Then, call her on the phone, or talk to her through an open door. You can also arrange a drive-by parade, where members of your family decorate their cars and slowly drive past her home.

Give Her Something Special from the Heart on Mother’s Day

There’s nothing moms love more than a heartfelt reminder that they’re appreciated. Spend some time making a slideshow from treasured family photos, creating a photo collage, or crafting a handmade card. You can also order personalized gifts like blankets, puzzles, and jewelry made from a cherished photo or engraved with a meaningful message.

Celebrate Motherhood with Cumberland Village

We have lots of mothers at Cumberland Village, and each and every one of them deserves something special this Mother’s Day. Although in-person celebrations aren’t recommended this year, you’ll find plenty of ways to show your mom how much you love and appreciate her.
