That coincidence grew into something larger a year later, when Mary’s son-in-law, Patrick, founded Paladin Productions.
By 2016, Paladin brought its first production to the Cumberland Village stage, with Mary watching from the audience. Since 2017, the company has rehearsed in the community’s historic 1835 Room, giving residents an early look at senior theater productions before they open anywhere else in Aiken, making Cumberland Village a hub for theater in Aiken. Each year, Paladin stages two comedy plays and a musical revue on campus, and the tradition continues more than 10 years later.
Mary has since passed away, but the friendship she started between Cumberland Village and Paladin Productions has only grown stronger.
